Support Collaborative Strategy with Discussion and Commentary Features

Learn how BSC Designer facilitates strategy discussions and helps retain the rationale behind the strategy.

  • Comment on the values of KPIs and goals.
  • Comment on initiatives.
  • Link directly to the items when discussing them outside the platform.
  • Upload relevant documents to goals, KPIs, and initiatives.
  • Capture ideas received by email.

Comments for KPIs and goals

To comment on the value of a goal or KPI:

  1. Switch to the KPIs tab.
  2. Select any item and switch to the Data tab Data tab.
  3. Select the appropriate date in the internal calendar.
  4. Click on the comment Comment icon next to the Value field.
  5. Add your comment text and save it for this date.

Comments for KPI values can be imported from Excel:

  • Match the Indicator Name and Date columns to their respective fields.
  • Match the Comment column to the comment field.
  • Match the Initiative - Description column to the detailed comment field.

To access the comments:

  • Comments will be displayed under the item when the corresponding date is selected in the calendar.
  • Comments for KPIs can also be viewed and created via the Values Editor.
  • Report profiles can be adjusted to display comments.

Comments for Initiatives

To comment on an initiative:

  1. Switch to the KPIs tab.
  2. Open any Initiative initiative.
  3. Click the Add button in the Comments section.

When discussing strategy outside of the BSC Designer platform, use the Direct link button Link button to generate a direct link to an item in a scorecard:

  • For Goals and KPIs: find the link button next to the item's name on the General tab General tab.
  • For Initiatives: find the link button next to the name field in the Initiatives dialog.
  • For Maps: click the Edit button Edit button and find the link button next to the name field.
  • For Dashboards: click the Edit button Edit button and find the link button next to the name field.

Supporting Documents

Relevant strategy documentation can be uploaded to goals, KPIs, or initiatives to explain the rationale behind the strategy and support future strategy reviews.

For goals/KPIs:

  1. Switch to the KPIs tab.
  2. Select any item and switch to the General tab.
  3. Click the Edit button Edit button next to the Description field.
  4. Use the Documents section to upload or specify a link to the document.

For initiatives:

  1. Switch to the KPIs tab.
  2. Open any Initiative initiative.
  3. Use the Documents section to upload or specify a link to the document.

Capture Ideas via Email

The BSC Designer platform can receive ideas sent by email and convert them into initiatives in a selected scorecard. For more details, follow:

  • Open > Settings > Integrations tab > Service API section.
